1) "Writers of good stories provide us with information that draw us into the
Summer, Sarah Norkus achieves this goal in a sensitive and engaging
manner that is an interesting and informing experience for the reader. This
story of a girl becoming a young woman while 'growing' through this
process with her family, including an alcoholic mother, is very moving. I
enjoyed it and I hope you will as well."

2) ”Thank you, Sweet Sally, for putting your healed heart on paper from
your “Eleventh Summer.”  You had to grow up way too quickly!  As a
mother my heart ached for you all the way through your story, and I
couldn’t put it down until I saw how God “worked all things together for
good…” You not only give children of alcoholics hope, but also develop a
candid picture of God’s “amazing grace, how sweet the sound…”

3) “An inspiring and real-life demonstration of forgiveness.”

Heidi Wight, Sociologist

4) "In the many years I have known Sally, I am continually impressed with
the miracle of God's healing and grace that is so evident in her life.  Her
story is a clear testimony of a life transformed by God's love, despite the
odds that could have so easily worked against her.  To God be the glory!"

5) As I read The Eleventh Summer I would frequently find my eyes filling up
with tears.  How could one little girl endure so much pain and suffering?  It
was amazing and inspiring that at such a young age, Sally, the daughter of
an alcoholic mother had the maturity, talents and abilities to not only take
care of herself, but also take care of her three younger siblings.  With
some help from her aging housekeeper, Mattie, Sally took on the role of
mother.  This book shares many heart-wrenching stories of verbal,
physical, and sexual abuse that no child should have to experience.  Sally’s
faith in God allowed her to carry her cross patiently and with perfect
submission.  In the end it will carry her.  I feel this book is an inspiration to
anyone who is suffering or has suffered from the mistreatment of a
substance abusive parent.  The Eleventh Summer is a GREAT READ!

6) After reading The Eleventh Summer and asking God to guide my
thoughts, these words and phrases came to my mind: Healing Through
Pain, Over-comer, A New Beginning, Awareness, Courage and Hope.
Apostle Paul mentioned in Romans 8:37-38 - " Yet in all these things we
are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.  For I am persuaded
that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor
things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other
created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in
Christ Jesus our Lord."  My prayer is that through Sally's story lives will be
saved.  Alcoholics will find the courage through Christ Jesus to overcome
their dependency on alcohol and their families will be physically and
mentally healed. Each new day will bring a new beginning, and they will be
set free from the bondage of alcohol because of the hope they now have in
Christ Jesus.

In Christ's Love,
Sally Rindoks

7) "This book is a "must read" for one who has faced or is facing
insurmountable difficulties with family problems.  Regardless of the
obstacles put in one's path, with God's help, an adult or child can move on
to have a successful life.  The author has not let her past be an excuse for
the present.  She has used the situations from her past to guide her in
making wise decisions."
